Murcia, 2 october 2015. The delegate of the government, Antonio Sánchez Solís, has emphasised this morning the commitment of the government of spain with the most disadvantaged in the inauguration of the new headquarters of the food Bank safe, attended by the president of the autonomous community, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, and the mayor of Murcia, José Cross-bow.

Sánchez Solís has indicated that, of the more than 113,5 million kilograms of food to distribute this year throughout the country, the region of Murcia has just over 5 million kilograms (with a coefficient of power- 4.46%), and a value of $4.8 billion.

This Plan is implemented in three stages:

1St phase: Was launched in june and distributed 30% of the total food (something more than 1.4 million kilos).

2Nd phase: Starts in september and allocated 40% of its total food, (something more than 2.3 million kilograms).

3Rd phase: Will commence between february / march 2016 and allocated the remaining 30% (something more than 1.2 million kilos).

The first phase of distribution, foods have been surrendered to 277 partner organizations the division and 101.987 people have been beneficiaries.

“ the government of spain is firmly committed to the protection of the most underprivileged people. Within the initiatives carried out, and within the framework of the european union, are these food aid schemes are managed jointly from the ministries of Agriculture and health ”, highlighted Sánchez Solís.

At national level, the programme will this year a total of 113.152.885 kilograms of feed throughout the spanish territory, which amounts to $118.5 million. Regard to 2014 there has been an increase of 64 million kilograms of food.

The Federation of food banks (FESBAL) and Spanish Red Cross are responsible for the storage and distribution of these products on the whole geography spanish. Some 7,000 partner organizations will participate in the distribution.
